Prime St. Helena Cab for
under $40
$36 / bottle | $30 on 6+ bottles
The latest Wine Access NDA wine is here, and this one is a solid 6-12 bottle buy just in time for the holidays!
The Howell Mountain iteration sold out in 12 hours and literally before I could even post about It, but this one seems to be in slightly larger supply, from a killer St. Helena Vineyard, and worth stocking up on.
Just like all the other “NDA wines” from Wine Access, the specific fruit source and winery are kept under 🔐 and in return we get the wine at a fraction of the price. And while the exact details of how and why the fruit source or wine might be available, what I can tell you is it’s extremely normal for these things to happen in Napa Valley.
Here’s what we know:
1. The historic site is a stone’s throw from Beckstoffer’s Dr. Crane and Las Piedras Vineyards.
These vineyards are historically the source from several 100 point wines made the likes of Realm, Vice Versa, Paul Hobbs, and The Debate… just to name a few. It’s a proverbial gold mine around those parts and you’d be hard pressed to find any fruit that isn’t absolutely specacular.
2. The winery’s allocation-only Cabs have been lauded as flawlessly balanced and close to perfect by Jeb Dunnuck, and they commonly fetch $200+ prices.
Jeb knows his California wines and doesn’t mince words. I suspect a quick google search of those phrases might fetch you the actual source.
3. The 2019 vintage was picture-perfect, producing what Antonio Galloni of Vinous called “breathtaking wines.”
It sure was. Like the ‘18, the ‘19 is absolutely spectacular. Not to be hyperbolic, but now is the time to stock up especially with the brutal 2020 vintage looming.
